I was listening to the local oldies station this morning right before 10AM. They are one of the many stations I listen to. They were playing "American Pie", so the song lasted almost the whole ride to work. Afterwards, they played this announcement:
After many years of serving the Triangle area with the Oldies format, 100.7 WTRG is bidding our loyal audience goodbye. We invite you to tune to SUNNY at 93.9 and 106.1 WRDU for many of the songs we have played from the 60's and 70's...we have moved our library of songs to both of these fine radio stations.
100.7 WTRG has appreciated your loyalty and your patronage, Thank You for a great run of Oldies in the Triangle from your friends at 100.7 WTRG.
And then, dead air followed by static. I tuned in on the way home and they were simulcasting Sunny 93.9 (blecch!). Please tell me Clear Channel is going to do something more useful with that transmitter than make it a Delilah repeater.
I couldn't help but remember an awful day a few years ago when 93.9, a pretty respectable album rock station became Sunny.
