My dad and I went to an airshow yesterday. The NC Aviation Museum in Asheboro hosted a fly-in with static displays of their warbird collection. Later on, they actually flew some of the planes in a small show.
Probably the coolest one was the Helio Courier operated by JAARS. This was a 6 seat airplane that could take off and land with about 200 feet of runway (not kidding here). The pilot then flew it around the pattern at 30 knots and did a few maneuvers. It's pretty unbelievable to see and airplane fly this slowly and not stall.
