I have a new geek toy. It’s a Midland WR-300 weather alert radio. Its primary purpose in life is to set off an obnoxious alarm if a tornado warning is issued. But, it also allows me to listen to NOAA weather radio for hours on end, which I have been doing because I was sick this week.

I don't have anything against Michael Powell, but he did commit a faux pas in a recent comment. This CNN article quotes him as saying:

"The commission may not, unlike Huckleberry Finn, recruit somebody else to do the job Congress directed it to do," Powell told the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.


It was Tom Sawyer, not Huck Finn who got the other boys to whitewash his fence for him.
